FIJI Water Foundation Commits $1.2 Million in Grants to Aid 250 Teachers This Year

The FIJI Water Foundation is set to allocate $1.2 million in Classroom Grants this year, benefiting nearly 250 local educators. According to Marie Smith, the Foundation Manager, these grants will empower teachers in Suva to enhance students’ educational experiences, covering aspects such as holistic well-being, literacy, numeracy, technology tools, learning incursions, and career readiness equipment.

With an investment exceeding $19.5 million in community development since 2008, the FIJI Water Foundation remains committed to fostering growth and learning in Fiji’s schools. Marie Smith emphasizes their ongoing dedication to supporting educational initiatives, collaborating with schools across the islands to nurture student development for the present and future. Last year’s grant recipient, Mataiasi Maiciri from Saint Mary’s Primary School, expressed joy at receiving funding to provide innovative IT equipment for students.

Maiciri expresses sincere gratitude on behalf of the FIJI Water Foundation for entrusting their project. Applications for the Classrooms Grants will remain open until March 31st, 2024, with grant recipients slated for announcement in April 2024. Eligibility for a Classroom Grant necessitates certification as educators by the Ministry of Education in Fiji.
