Vodafone Samoa has reiterated its commitment to supporting Lakapi Samoa, emphasizing that this support aligns with one of its core values and its role in fostering the development and progress of rugby in Samoa.
Vodafone Samoa’s recent decision to temporarily halt its rugby sponsorship followed a thorough analysis of the company’s sponsorship portfolio and the prevailing market conditions.
“This decision will continue to promote sportsmanship and nurture talent at the grassroots level in Samoa. We look forward to working closely with Lakapi Samoa to achieve shared goals and create memorable results in the long term,” stated Vodafone Samoa Chief Executive Officer Rana Bose.
In sports sponsorship, decisions are frequently influenced by strategic considerations, financial evaluations, and the overarching objective of supporting communities and encouraging growth. Our recent choice to temporarily withdraw from sponsoring rugby was not made lightly but was based on an extensive review of our sponsorship portfolio and the market dynamics at the time.
Conversely, we engaged in positive discussions with enthusiasts, internal teams, and the rugby community. During a challenging period for the sport, this opportunity enabled us to reassess our objectives, incorporate user feedback, and understand the broader impact of our sponsorship on the development of rugby and its players.
