The Shenzhen Foundation for International Exchange and Cooperation (SFIEC) from China has donated advanced manufacturing equipment, including subtractive manufacturing tools, robotic dogs, and 3D printers, to the science and technology laboratory at Butuka Academy in the National Capital District. This donation is aimed at fostering educational growth and advancing modern technological skills among students.
This initiative was carried out in partnership with Vamos, a Shenzhen-based company renowned for its business ventures. Butuka Academy, located in Port Moresby, is a friendship school symbolizing the bond between China and Papua New Guinea.
The donation was made on Tuesday as part of SFIEC’s “Sparkle for Youth” program, which promotes educational collaboration under the Belt and Road Initiative. Notably, this is SFIEC’s first educational public welfare project in Oceania, aiming to strengthen cultural ties between the two regions, enhance mutual understanding, and build trust and friendship between the people of China and Papua New Guinea.
Governor Powes Parkop welcomed the delegation from Shenzhen and expressed gratitude to SFIEC and Vamos for their support. He emphasized that Butuka serves not only as a platform for youth development but also as a bridge for cultural exchange and mutual understanding between the two nations.
Chinese Ambassador Yang Xiaguang extended his thanks to the Shenzhen Municipal Government and SFIEC for their support toward Butuka Academy and Papua New Guinea.
