The African, Caribbean, and Pacific (ACP) – European Union (EU) Enhancing the Capacity of Cultural and Creative Industries in the Pacific Grant Scheme (Enhancing the Capacity of Cultural and Creative Industries in the Pacific Grant Scheme) has chosen the second group of grant recipients.
EUR387,940 will be distributed to seven projects in Fiji and Papua New Guinea.
Motiv8 Productions Fiji, which wants to help the Rotuma Project document cultural heritage, and Tabs Investment Fiji, which intends to make Ukuleles out of scraps of Mahogany, have each been given a small grant.
There are also four medium grants awarded and include the following recipients.
- Film Fiji projects focus on a Producers Accelerator program and a Script Development program;
- The iTaukei Trust Fund will collaborate with Rotuma island’s cultural and creative producers on skill transfer and income-generating initiatives.
- Highlands Adventures in Papua New Guinea aspires to build a training program for cultural producers and creative practitioners.
Save Papua New Guinea got a big grant for its project, “Revitalizing Bilas: Using peer education, digital literacy training, and Information and Communications Technology innovations to empower youth in traditional arts and cultural resilience in rural and remote areas of Papua New Guinea.”
The ACP-EU Cultural and Creative Industries Grant Scheme is a three-year program made possible with money from the European Union. It helps from the Secretariat of the Organization of Africa, Caribbean, and Pacific States (OACPS).
The Pacific Community (SPC) and the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) work together to run the grant program, open to Timor Leste and the other 14 Pacific-ACP member countries.
The third call for proposals is scheduled to close on November 11, 2022, with awardees being notified in 2023.
