TechInPacific – Two leading public divisions in Africa encourage new technology that can connect the center of the Covid-19 test in that continent and facilitate the re-opening of borders in the whole location.
Every country is encouraged by the Africa Union and The Center for Disease Control and Prevention in Africa to utilize the PanaBios mobile platform that makes all results in every region centralized in one place. Thus far, the country that used this service is only Ghana.
The Minister of Communication in West Africa, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, stated that the integration of mobile-based platforms in Ghana was used as an example and innovator. The result of the implementation will be shared with Africa CDC and will be used in other countries in Africa.
Most big countries in Africa have protected their borders since the pandemic began until the borders reopen with the security restrictions. Some of them ask for the negative test of coronavirus, and in certain cases, self-isolation should be done in a hotel and the expense is paid by the traveler. Ghana, the country which is continuing its international flight on Tuesday, still expects the pre-arrival and on-arrival test for every person to enter the country.
Preston Asante, a spokesman said that the mobile-based platform, PanaBIOS can simplify the travelers’ need to join the repeated test during their trip from countries that have been registered on the platform.
The ease of travel regulation became vital for the success of a plan led by the Africa Union to enforce the world’s largest free-trade zone, which will be started in 2021. However, this event has been postponed due to the global pandemic.
The director of the Africa Union, John Nkengasong mentioned that the re-open of entry and exit points to reduce the spread of coronavirus is needed to assist people’s movement. Moreover, at the same time, they can control vital public health.
