BSP to Introduce Deposit-Enabled ATMs in K90 Million Tech Upgrade

New deposit-enabled Automatic Transaction Machines (ATMs) will soon be installed across the country after Bank South Pacific Financial Group Limited (BSP) signed a K90 million investment deal with a banking technology company last week. These machines will also be introduced in BSP’s Pacific branches.

BSP Group Chief Executive Officer Mark Robinson explained that the bank is set to become the first in the country to offer an ATM deposit service to its customers. BSP awarded the contract to NCR Atleos, a banking and finance technology company with nearly 50 years of experience in developing banking services and products.

Robinson stated, “We understand that our customers value convenience and easy access to their accounts, especially outside regular banking hours.” He added that the upgrade will bring deposit-enabled ATMs to many markets, saving customers time and reducing queues.

This initiative highlights BSP’s commitment to innovation and customer-centric solutions, reinforcing its role as the region’s leading financial services provider,” Robinson continued.

The bank has considered both the security and location aspects of this service, deciding to relocate some existing withdrawal ATMs, while others will be remodeled to ensure a secure environment for customers.

Currently, BSP operates over 600 ATMs, including 300 in Papua New Guinea, more than 120 in Fiji, and others across Samoa, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Tonga, and the Cook Islands.

NCR Atleos New Zealand and Pacific Sales Manager Peter Corkery expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, saying, “We are delighted to partner with BSP to deliver innovative financial solutions.” He added, “By supporting BSP’s ATM operations, we will enable the bank to focus on providing exceptional service while we ensure their technology operates seamlessly.”
