Minister for Information and Communication Science Timothy Masiu wants more women and girls to join the ICT Space.
“Digital Skills for Life” is this year’s International Girls in ICT Day theme.
Minister Masiu emphasized how important it is to close the gender gap in the fast-paced area of ICT. He asked everyone to support Girls in ICT Day and encourage young girls and women to work in this area.
“I want to thank NICTA for their scholarship to girls in ICT and for all they do for Girls in ICT. I encourage more girls to strive hard and pursue a career path in the ICT space.
Masiu emphasized the importance of improving ICT services for women and girls in PNG and the critical role of ICT in the country, calling citizens to work together to create a more equitable and inclusive society where girls and women may excel in careers in STEM fields.
The event also gave women in the ICT field a chance to show off their accomplishments and encourage the next generation of girls to follow in their paths.
