The Vanuatu Trade Commission in Ghana has established a groundbreaking Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with El-Roi London University, representing the first-ever partnership between the commission and a United Kingdom-based university. This initiative is part of the AI Africa Project, which concentrates on enhancing training and capacity development for both trainees and trainers throughout Africa.
El-Roi London University, which operates under the higher education umbrella of the El-Roi London Academy, is a distinguished private university known for its innovative approach to higher education. It has been granted degree-awarding powers by The Kingdom of Hawai’i Royal Accreditation Commission (KOHRAC) based in Honolulu, USA, and it champions a liberating vision of higher education.
This approach entails a thorough analysis of social, political, and institutional frameworks to identify and remedy social injustices and disparities. Furthermore, the university champions transpersonal higher education, which emphasizes the pursuit of truth and addresses vital questions about value, meaning, and purpose.
The signing of the MOU marks a significant advancement in promoting educational and technological progress in Africa. The AI Africa Project aims to provide individuals with state-of-the-art artificial intelligence skills, thereby enhancing their ability to contribute to the continent’s rapidly expanding tech ecosystem.
His Excellency, Ambassador Professor Hugh Aryee, Vanuatu’s Trade Commissioner in Ghana, expressed his excitement about the partnership, stating, “This agreement with El-Roi London University marks a significant milestone for the AI Africa Project. By tapping into the university’s pioneering educational methods and its commitment to social justice, we are opening up extraordinary training possibilities for both our trainees and trainers. This collaboration not only illustrates the power of our shared vision but also stands as a symbol of hope for the future of education and technology in Africa.”
Ambassador Aryee also highlighted the importance of this partnership, adding, “The focus of El-Roi London University on emancipatory and transpersonal higher education perfectly matches our objectives to enhance individual and community empowerment through
knowledge and technology. This MOU is set to create educational experiences that are transformative, addressing both the technical and ethical aspects of artificial intelligence.”
On behalf of El-Roi London University, Professor Oluwafemi Esan, Vice-chancellor and Ambassador of The Sovereign Kingdom of Hawaii to the United Kingdom, commented on the agreement, stating, “We are delighted to engage in this partnership with the Vanuatu Trade Commission Ghana for the AI Africa Project. Our university’s mission to explore and tackle social injustices through our educational programs aligns flawlessly with the aims of this project.”
